The Community of Beatty, Oregon
In 1925 Beatty was named after Rev. J. L. Beatty, a missionary who lived on the Klamath Indian Reservation. Beatty is a popular place for outdoorsmen from all over and is known for its fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities for the entire family. Beatty is located approximately 40 miles northeast of Klamath Falls Oregon on Oregon Highway 140.
The Community of Bly, Oregon
The little town of Bly was originally called Sprague River in 1873 by John Gearhart, but was later changed to Bly. Bly is now home to 450 people that live in this quiet community once home to a large regional lumber mill. Bly is approximately 53 miles northeast of Klamath Falls Oregon.
The Community of Fort Klamath, Oregon
A United States Calvary Fort, named Fort Klamath, was established in 1863 by two companies of soldiers. It was a historical post during the Modoc, Snake and Paiute Indian wars. In 1879, a post office was established and later in 1889 the soldiers left Fort Klamath and abandoned the historic fort. Today the community of Fort Klamath quietly rests among green pastures, the Wood River is a popular fishing destination of the Pacific Northwest.
The Community of Midland, Oregon
Midland is about 8 miles south of Klamath Falls along US Highway 97. It was originally established in the early 1900’s as a train depot to transport cattle and livestock. At one point; two general stores, a hotel with a saloon, a livery stable, a warehouse for grain and a telephone office were built. Nothing of the booming little town exists today, however the Midland Community is the home of Klamath County’s Visitor Center and southern most rest stop.
The Community of Rocky Point, Oregon
Rocky Point is a 30 minute drive northwest of Klamath Falls and is located along the shores of Upper Klamath Lake. It is the home of Rocky Point Resort which has cozy cabins, boat rentals and a restaurant. Upper Klamath Lake is full of rainbow trout, canoe and kayak trails, and waterfowl via the National Wildlife Refuge just north of the Community of Rocky Point.
